This month we’re celebrating The Emerald Elephant’s 5 Year Anniversary!

The Emerald Elephant is a family run Thai restaurant owned by Ted and his wife Nok. Together, with the help of their youngest daughter, they have grown the business to what it is today, a successful and distinguished restaurant serving up tasty, healthy and affordable Thai cuisine.

Ted was born in Thailand, and developed his passion for food from his mother who taught him the secrets to cooking delicious and authentic Thai dishes from a young age. In 1996, when Ted moved to Australia to study a degree in business, he continued his love of cooking by working part time in a Thai restaurant.

After years of studying and working hard, Ted met his wife Nok and they settled down in Melbourne to raise a family. Like Ted, Nok was born in Thailand and was also taught how to cook traditional Thai dishes by her family. This passion for food, their 15 years of experience in the industry and their shared dream to one day open their own business, saw The Emerald Elephant open its doors in May 2008. As Ted states…

“We wanted to bring our home to Australia; to give our customers a taste of Thailand. That is why we opened The Emerald Elephant”

In the five years since the business opened, it has grown to become one of the most popular eateries for locals looking for a relaxed and friendly place to dine. There’s a strong focus on using quality, homemade ingredients with no added MSG. The menu ranges from traditional curries and wok stir fries to unique dishes such as their fried spare ribs in special sauce.
